Custom Blinds - Made To Order For The Specific Size Of Your Windows

Before you measure for custom blinds, you do have to decide whether you want to have your custom blinds inside or outside of the facings on the windows. Both methods of installing custom blinds look nice, but vertical blinds are usually installed on the facings or above them. For custom mini blinds, inside the facing provides a neater look to the window because it doesn't hide the wood. When measuring the window for custom blinds, never estimate the size. Always make sure that you use a measuring tape because if the custom blinds don't fit, you won't be able to return them.

Custom blinds are measured in inches, so you should not write down the measurements in centimetres or metres. If you do, the custom blinds manufacturer will have to convert the measurements, which could mean receiving custom wood blinds that are too big or too small for your windows. Take the measurement of the width first and then the height. This applies to measuring for custom vertical blinds as well as for horizontal blinds.

In order to measure properly for horizontal custom window blinds, use the inside of the trim as the starting and ending point. Take the measurements of the window in three places - top, middle and bottom. This is so that if the window is off center, then you can have the custom blinds you need to fit it perfectly.

This applies to all shapes of windows, whether they are rectangle, square or arched. If you have arched windows, you may need to include a drawing of the window with your order for custom vertical or mini blinds so the manufacturer can get an idea of what you want.

And often they will come to you!

Many of the stores that sell custom blinds will come to your home and do the measuring for your custom blinds for you. Whether or not you opt for motorized custom window blinds, you can also have the blinds installed by the retailer or another professional as well.

However, horizontal and vertical blinds are so easy to install that once you see one blind installed, you will be able to take care of the rest yourself. If you order custom wood blinds, you can choose the type of wood you want in the blind as well as the color of stain applied to the wood.

Whether you want custom blinds for sliding patio doors or French doors, you can get whatever kind you want. For these doors, homeowners usually have vertical blinds that close to one side or the other of the door, but that is a matter of taste. There is nothing wrong with having mini blinds to these openings if that is what you prefer. Custom blinds are about the same price as other types of window blinds. The difference is that you get to have exactly what you want instead of settling for blinds that are already made.
